Inspiring others to live a life filled with peace and joy
Shara Turner, E-RTY500, YACEP, Certified Nutritionist
Director & Lead Teacher
Yoga found Shara when she needed it most; she was an entrepreneur running a real estate business in Vancouver, Canada and in need of something to help her find balance and peace amid the stress and chaos of the executive world. She was young and very successful yet spiritually unfulfilled. She needed a change. One day she decided to attend a yoga class, she was instantly hooked. Something inside of her awakened and the inquiry began. She fell in love with how yoga made her feel: peaceful, focused, grounded, strong, and increasingly compassionate.
Shara's journey eventually lead her to India where she had the opportunity to live, learn, practice, and breathe all that is traditional Ashtanga yoga (8 fold path as per Patanjali's Yoga Sutra). This was the major turning point in her life. The deep study of yoga was the key to becoming truly conscious and ever present.
Shara has been practicing yoga since 2003 and teaching since 2012. She enjoys teaching a variety of styles including Iyengar based Hatha, Hatha Flow, The Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series, Vinyasa flow, Prenatal and Postnatal yoga. Her classes are centered on linking breath with movement and always designed to clear energetic blockages so practitioners can channel their energy and enjoy the bliss of a moving meditation. She also frequently offers lectures on Ayurveda.
Shara lived in India exclusively from 2012- early 2019 and worked as director and lead teacher trainer at Suddha Anand Yogshala in Rishikesh and Varkala. Now days, you will find Shara living part time in Canada and part time in India. She is about to welcome her second child into this world and will once again be offering training with her Guru JI in spring 2020. She has devoted her life to sharing the Yogic path with all those who have a desire to learn.
Her educational background includes studies in General Science from Langara College, Studies at the Saunders school of Business, University of British Columbia, a Diploma of Nutrition, Diet and Health from Ashworth, and over 1200 hours of yogic studies including Yoga and Ayurveda from Kaivalyadhana, Prenatal & postnatal certificate from Bliss Baby Yoga, Kundalini yoga from Semperviva, advanced anatomy studies with Noah Maze, Amy Mathews and Leslie Kaminoff to name a few. She is registered with Yoga Alliance USA at the E-RYT 500 level.
